Every point has a Beginning, Middle, and an End

If there is a beginning, middle, and end to every point then there should be at least three shots hit on your side of net, before a point is scored. Many players feel a need to attack the return no matter the strength of the serve, or try to hit a winner off the very first volley regardless of the height or speed of the ball. Have a plan before the start of each point e.g. hit an aggressive serve or a solid return crosscourt, close and volley deep, then look for an opportunity to hit an offensive shot. More points will be won by placing a shot or creating a hole, rather than driving a power ball though a player.
